In November 2016, after an overnight flight from Virginia, I arrived in Prague. I booked an apartment located in the painted building on the Old Town Square so the location was perfect for sightseeing.
This was my 3rd visit to Prague so I did not follow the traditional tourist route. I did more wondering the streets of Prague and also took a day trip outside of Prague.
After a quick shower and change of clothes, I ventured out for a relaxed day in Prague. One of my stops was the DSC Gallery near the Old Town Square where I saw some pretty unusual art.
After a great dinner at Restaurance Mincovna, I was off for some very needed sleep.
Day 2 – Kutna Hora
Today I’m venturing into the town of Kutna Hora for a visit to the Bone Church. It’s estimated that this Chapel houses the bones from over 40,000 people.
There is a skull chandelier, there are strings of skulls and bones hanging from the ceiling, skulls with wounds inflicted by various medieval weapons and bones in every direction.
Day 3 – Walking around Prague
After a day of wondering around Prague, it is time for the Opera and a late dinner.
Day 3 – Christmas Market, amazing brunch at Mlynec and Elton John Concert
The weekend brunch at Mlynec is an amazing experience. You don’t select the menu…they bring you the entire menu.
First the Starters – Salmon Tartar with avocado, dill and lime, Pork Tenderloin with a mushroom salad and finally a Green lettuce salad with pickled beetroat, goat cheese and pear.
Next, the main dishes include Grilled Butterfish with Lemongrass Risotto and Basil foam, Roasted Lamb Shank and Turkey Breast with herb butter and ginger-thyme sauce, Baked Pumpkin Polenta and Smoked Parsley Puree.
Finally Dessert – I start with Strawberry Cheesecake and Plum Tart with vanilla sauce and if you still have room…there is an ice cream bar.
Brunch also includes an amazing view from your Table, unlimited wine including a red, white and prosecco and fresh orange juice.
Next Elton John….
After a quick metro ride from the O2 Arena, I’m back in Old Town and catch a little of the Christmas Market which opened today.
Well, it’s morning and time to catch a flight to Budapest. After comparing my transportation options, flying was quicker and less expensive than the train.
